Factor XPTO: Sharing a glass of wine is a unique journey that makes people happy

Marta and Scott are the faces behind Vinhos Desviso, a small Portuguese winery producing wines with identity, a sense of place, and that also translate the journey that the couple have had together. Marta is Portuguese, Scott is American, they have been married for over 12 years. Before starting this project, they were working in Walla Walla, Washington State, USA, but it was the harvest experiences in Portugal that were decisive for the couple to decide to move back and make wine in Portugal.

Vinhos Desviso is located about 50min north of Lisbon, between Bombarral and Óbidos. After renovating an old warehouse from Marta’s family into a winery, Vinhos Desviso first harvest was in 2022.

The grapes for Desviso wines are always hand-picked and manually selected. The winemaking is done with minimal intervention, but above all, with a lot of respect and care for the land and what comes from it.

From the 2022 vintage 7 different single-variety wines were made – 4 whites and 3 reds – from the grape varieties Gouveio, Encruzado, Fernão Pires, Arinto, Castelão, Tinta Roriz and Syrah.
