Textura Wines is a family project started in 2018 in Dão, on the slopes of Serra da Estrela, involving organic viticulture, terroir wine production and wine tourism. In search of existing vineyards, in a region of small growers, we have added 22 ha of vineyards in 7 different plots in Vila Nova de Tazem and Penalva do Castelo, all in conversion to organic since 2020.

With a low intervention oenology, led by Luis Seabra, which reflects soil and location of each vineyards, the goal is to produce wines with character, elegant and distinct. Respect for the place and its biodiversity, the preservation of resources and local development are our fundamental principles.

In Vila Nova de Tazem, vineyards installed on poor granitic soils at altitudes between 480 and 550m, with cooler nights on the banks of the Serra da Estrela, that produce lighter and more delicate white and red wines. Highlights for varieties such as Jaen, Alfrocheiro and Encruzado.

In Encoberta (Penalva do Castelo), a 1992 vineyard, 460m-500m meters high, with red grape varieties only in fertile, clay-granitic soils, with shorter vegetative cycles. It originates wines of greater aromatic exuberance, with red and black fruits, with remarkable Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro.

In Matela, in the extreme border of Penalva, vineyards between 560m and 620m, in poor granite-quartz soils have extended cycles and Jaen as main variety. Due to the aptitude for white grapes, 6ha of Encruzado, Cerceal Branco, Bical and Gouveio vines were planted.

In 2020, we acquired a century-old textile factory in São Paio, on the banks of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, and we completed its renovation and conversion into our winery and, in the near future, wine tourism.
