“Okro’s wines winery is based in Signagi, Kakheti and produces natural organic wine, in Qvevri. It is based on our ancestor’s family winemaking traditions in Qvevri and been it has been renewed in 2004.
For the first five years for John Okro was experimenting and his first bottling, in 2009, was a small lot. The wine was first exported to Italy, in 2010, and then expanded little by little, reaching the present volume of 70k bottles per year and exporting it to 22 countries all around the world, including most of the countries in Europe, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Canada, USA and Mexico.

We produce wine from our organically treated vineyards in Kakheti and Imereti. Our main productions include Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane, Tsitska, Tsolikouri, Saperavi Budeshuri, Classic Saperavi and Saperavi Ice (late harvest saperavi), as well as Kisi and Tavkveri Rose from the Sister’s Wines line. Our wines are vinified, macerated and aged in the Georgian ancient vessels, Qvevri. We don’t use any chemical treatments in the vineyard and also no additives or sulphur in the wines.
We also produce Pettilant Naturel (Natural Sparkling) wines without additives from Tsitska, Tsolikouri, Mtsvane, Rkatsiteli and Tavkveri Rose. The primary fermentation starts in the Qvevri and finishes in the bottle. Pettilant Naturel line includes Natural Sparkling from the Apples and Sparkling Cider from the Qvevri.

Visitors can experience our restaurant in Okro’s, that is nestled inside the small vinery where everything has begun and that has stunning views from the top of the old town, Signagi, and the caucasian mountains and valley. In the restaurant we serve Georgian traditional and fusion cuisine, based on our own organic produce. And obviously we offer wine tastings as well as master classes and natural organic winemaking lectures.”
