Nuria Renom

Factor XPTO: Because wine is a fire that entraps, that boils, that seeps through the gaps, tugging at the spirit.

This story evokes a game, a hopscotch drawn on the floor, where countries, spaces and times are skipped in a search that always looks to the roots.

Nuria Renom, born in Argentina, raised in Catalonia, formed Sommelier, in re-formation, without a family winemaking background: Fell into wine by passion, by falling in love to the magic every sip can bring.

After six years as Head Sommelier at Bar Brutal (BCN) and countless harvests all over the world, combining hospitality with her vinifications since 2014, her nomadic and curious soul finally found the land where she could finally take root.

It was 2021 when she and her partner got to buy the Can Barceló farmstead, located in a hidden valley in the Alt Penedès, at 420 metres above sea level.

There, in the hamlet of Les Cantarelles, the 16 hectares of vineyards surrounding the house form a mosaic of small plots on the rocky limestone soils of Jurassic origin. The terraces are surrounded by forest, facing north, with a salty history to transmit.

This is the land of the forgotten Parellada, Macabeu, Tempranillo and the odd Chardonnay. Old vines that have been salvaged and to which she tries to give a voice, from the soul.

Her vinifications are guided by intuition, observation and memory, more than by manuals; in essence they are free, expressive wines and always without additives!

Only stones, only plants, only grapes, only wine. Simplesmente… Alive!
