Factor XPTO: Tiny production, single vineyard wines from the Ribeira Sacra.

Minimal intervention winemaking is carried out in the “garagiste” bodega in a tiny village on the banks of the Miño near Chantada, which allows the terroir of these amazing vineyards to really shine through. Field blends of local varieties co-fermented in open-top vessels. Foot stomping, manual punch downs, basket press, all the good stuff. Wines left to age on their lees for as long as they need, nothing is hurried along.

Winemaking is done by Zak Elfman, who tries to stay out of the process as much as possible. He grew up in Northern California and worked a couple of harvests in Stellenbosch and Mendoza before starting the difficult (but not impossible!) mission of making wine in the Ribeira Sacra. He likes Galicia.

Every step along the way from vineyard to bottle is done by hand, resulting in a very artisanal wine – for better or worse! These wines are not for everyone, but those who like them are really appreciative. Come visit, taste, and find out for yourself!
