Meinke Flesseman

A Dutch painter inspired by the unique nature of the Algarve, Meinke settled in the fishing village of Olhão after living and studying in Holland, Florence and Russia. Now she’s moving to the Barlavento breeze, to Portimão. Among her favorite aspects of the Algarve are its individuality, specifically the people, the domestic animals of the increasingly rare rurality and the vibrancy of the proximity to the sea, as well as the simple and relaxed lifestyle. Painted canvases are among her specialties, but she also branches out and seeks more inspiration in Portuguese culture, such as tiles and ceramics from Caldas da Rainha.
