Factor XPTO: The Earth is the only truth, imperfection is the real perfection
“We are a family of winegrowers and we are established in La Tierra del Vino de Zamora, specifically in Villamor de los Escuderos. We have just 6 hectares of vineyards of different ages. Some planted by us and others rescued from their disappearance because they are very old vines and not very productive for the winegrowers in the area.
We came to the world of wine because of the need to live in a rural environment. From a very young age I have practiced healthy living and eating. We have been making organic gardens
for self-consumption for over 40 years, we also had beehives but due to the difficulty of maintaining them without chemical products we decided to give up at that time.
For us it is an imperative need to produce in this way we are convinced that we are contributing our small grain of sand to improve life, showing those closest to us that it is possible to grow vines and make wine without poisoning the land or consumers and that we are also gradually making our project economically profitable.
We have 6 plots that add up to almost 6 hectares: 1.5 ha Tempranillo from 1999 and a tiny part of Cabernet Sauvignon. 0.4 ha of Tinta del País of 70 years. White vineyard from 1909: Verdeja, Godello, Albillo and Palomino. 0.5 ha of Albillo Real and Moscatel from the 60s. 1.8 ha of Malvasia planted in 1945. 0.5 ha of Macabeo the oldest of all parcels. The entire vineyard is owned except for the Macabeo, which is leased.
Our entire vineyard is certified organic. Our first harvest was in 2009 and was certified organic and with D.O. In 2014 we abandoned the certifications.
The project, like many others in Spain, is to obtain the most natural terroir wine possible. In 2013 we made our first wines without anything. The 2015 vintage was the first in which we no longer used any type of additive or correction in all wines.
Alumbro: White (Verdeja, Godello, Chasselas Doré), Red (Tempranillo y Cabernet Sauvignon), Claret (Viura ó Palomino and Garnacha); Grillo Nacho (Garnacha); Juno Celosa (wine with
an Atlantic orientation made with Verdeja Negro y Mencía); God Helio (100% Godello ancestral); Albyreal (100% Albillo Real); Malveral (100% Malvasía); Palote (Palomino Fino from our vineyard from 1909); Berretes Orange Wine (Godello, Verdeja, Albillo Real y Chasselas Doré, orange); Maeve (Moscatel de Grano Menudo orange); Mariblanca (sparkling wine from a variety in danger of extinction.).”
