Kiko & The Blues Refugees accomplished in 2 years what many bands fail to achieve over a long career, which is to create their own sound. Kiko & The Blues Refugees concert takes us through the Blues, Rock’n’Roll, Funk and Soul with energy, maturity and humor. What kind of music is this? Honest, true and organic music that begins with the Blues while crossing through other musical territories: the new blues from the old school.

The musician, composer and producer Kiko Pereira is joined by a group of excellent musicians the likes of António Mão de Ferro (guitars), Jorge Filipe Santos (keyboards), Carl Minnemann (bass) and João Cunha (drums) who released their debut album Threadbare in February 2021. The album is a true soundscape of 11 original tracks that transport us from the deep south of the United States and take us along different roads between the Mississippi delta and Chicago, passing through Detroit and other genres. Much has already been said about this album in Portugal and Europe. Ross Cottee wrote “You are in for a treat” in Blues in Britain, the French magazine Soul Bag attributed 4 stars out of 5 referring that it is “un álbum superbe de bout em bout!”  and its Austrian counterpart Concert also evaluated Threadbare with 4 out of 5 summarizing with a single word “Schön!”.

In 2022, they released the single Doktor Doom, a reaction to a conflict started on February 24th. The song is a short dialogue with the world’s dictators and despots in search of an answer to the fundamental questions about freedom, respect, aggression and the blackmail that comes with it. In the wise words of Álvaro Costa “The Doktor Doom recipe works! Sound vitamin to move the body and soul! Let’s Party!”
