Factor XPTO: It is the work in the vineyard and cellar that elevates us to peace of mind and spirit.

Cátia Laranjo in direct speech: “ETNOM written backwards reads MONTE, the name of our village. The project was born in 2020 with the challenge to make wine from my brother’s grapes, thus creating ETNOM Vinhos. In 2021 I planted my first vineyard, where I had grown up helping my father and which I was very sorry to see abandoned, adding to the work in the cellar the work in the vineyard. The Azorean climate being extremely difficult, it is a new challenge on a personal level to learn this beautiful philosophy.”

The project comprises a partnership between the viticulture of David Laranjo  and the oenology of Cátia Laranjo, brothers and partners. Cátia studied oenology at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro and her goal was always to return to her homeland and do something different, David went to the Navy to escape working in his father’s vineyards, having returned years later and decided simplesmente… to plant his own vineyard.

Here is born the dream that commands life, to make wine the old-fashioned way, with newer knowledge.
