Factor XPTO: Cayetano del Pino, unique and different wines
“My name is Teresa del Pino, and I am the Distribution Manager at Bodega Cayetano del Pino, founded in 1886 in Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) by my great-grandfather, Cayetano del Pino. It is an honor to continue the family legacy as part of the fourth generation, now working alongside the new owner, Fulgencio Meseguer.
I would like to share with you a brief overview of our winery’s history and essence, structured into three key periods:
First Period: Origins and International Expansion (1886 – Early 20th Century)
Since its foundation, Bodega Cayetano del Pino has stood out for the excellence of its wines and its innovative presentation, creating a collection of over 600 unique labels. During this period, the winery not only marketed a wide range of wines but also products such as whisky, rum, and fortified Sherry wines enriched with quinine for medicinal purposes. Among our most notable patents is the Sparkling Vermouth, featuring an innovative stopper design that preserved the quality of the product after opening the bottle.
Second Period: Consolidation and Aging Mastery
This period can be divided into two stages:
1- The winery became a almacenista, selling its wines to other wineries that bottled them under their own brands.
2- Later, we ceased selling our wines to third parties, focusing instead on aging them through the Criaderas and Soleras system.
This unique method gives our wines unparalleled characteristics: we keep the criaderas and soleras of our Amontillados close to the ground for greater freshness, while those of the Palo Cortado are placed higher for enhanced roundness and warmth.
In 2015, as the fourth generation, we resumed bottling and revived our historic label collection, adapting them to our Palo Cortado and Amontillado Solera references in VOS and VORS versions. During this time, we strengthened our presence both nationally and internationally.
Third Period: Innovation and Expansion (2022 – Present)
With the arrival of the new owner, Fulgencio Meseguer, the winery has undergone a transformation focused on innovation. In just one year, a new enotourism project and museum have been developed, now available for your visit. Additionally, we have launched two new references: Cream, crafted from our Palo Cortado and Pedro Ximénez. Fino, with an average aging of 9 years.
With this presentation, I hope you have gained a deeper understanding of our winery and wines. It will be my pleasure to answer any questions or provide further details.
Best regards, Teresa del Pino”
