Rafael Rodríguez, a technical architect with his hands in the earth, has transformed a historic tavern in Sanlúcar into a temple of natural white wine. With three generations of winegrowers behind him, Rafael is a true ‘Mayetero’ who pays homage to the winemaking traditions of Jerez. However, Barrialto is not a winery stuck in the past. On the contrary, it is an avant-garde project that explores the limits of the Jerez terroir through organic vineyards and artisanal production. Each bottle of Barrialto is a journey through time, an encounter between history and the vineyard.
In the small Barrialto winery, each wine is a work of art. Spontaneous fermentation in ex-manzanilla casks, without temperature control and using only native yeasts, allows each plot to express its uniqueness. Minimal intervention in the production process guarantees wines of maximum transparency and quality. With artisanal and limited production, Barrialto offers a unique experience for the most demanding palates. The albariza, the unique calcareous soil of the Marco de Jerez, reveals its complexity through the wines of Barrialto. In the Barrialto Aranzá, made with grapes from the closed tosca, we find a balance and elegance that captivate. The closed tosca, with its “magnetism”, brings a mineral depth to this wine. On the other hand, the Barrialto Sobre Lías Santa Brigida is a blend that fuses the closed tosca and the battonage with the lees creating a symphony of flavours where minerality is intertwined with herbaceous notes. And for lovers of orange wines, Azacanes is a true gem, made with Palomino grapes that rest on their skins, giving it a copper colour and a unique aromatic complexity. Each bottle of Barrialto is a sensory journey through the different terroirs of Jerez, a pure expression of Rafael Rodríguez’s passion and savoir-faire.
