Iago Garrido

Iago Garrido is one of the faces of the new generation of Galician winegrowers revitalizing Ribeiro (quite simply… a historic zone of European viticulture). The ambition began in 2008 with the recovery of the historic Augalevada estate, belonging to the Pazo de Rioboó (18th century). Four hectares of pure granite in the Avia Valley, the heart of Ribeiro.

At first, Iago and Liliana Fernández created a furancho, the fantastic Galician concept that allows estates to open informal dining spaces between April and October to serve tapas and their own unlabeled wines. He started with Godello and Treixadura, but today he also cultivates Lado, Agudelo, Sousón, and Caiño.

He uses sustainable techniques and practices permaculture, organic, and biodynamic agriculture. He collaborates with small winegrowers along the banks of the Arnoia, Avia, and Miño rivers (Mercenario range). He works with stainless steel, buried clay amphorae, and used barrels.

Fazenda Agrícola Augalevada has very deep roots, where nature sets the rhythm, producing soulful wines that express the energy, intensity, and freshness of the land.
