Lafões region’s emblematic farmhouse for its history, beauty and … wines. With origin prior to nationality (it will have belonged to D.Teresa mother of the first king of Portugal) is located in the Trouce valley (affluent of the Vouga) near S. Pedro do Sul. It has 15ha of planted vineyard predominantly with strains of white grapes typical of Lafões (arinto, cerceal, dona branca, rabo-de-ovelha and esgana-cão) and conducted in organic farming since the 1980s.
In 2018 Quinta da Comenda launched two wines under the brand “Comenda de Ansemil”: a white DOP Lafões and a rosé “Terras de Lafões” that are contributing to revive the vocation of Lafões to the production of wines with unique characteristics.
Quinta da Comenda is also active in fruit growing, horticulture, livestock (cows) and agro-tourism.
