XPTO Factor: The Expression of Terroir.

The Head Rock Wines project and, more recently, Quinta Serra d’Oura, was born in 2007, with the purchase of the land that today houses the vineyards and that pass on to the grapes the unique characteristic of this terroir. Divided into two phases (2008 and 2009), the 5 ha, which in the past had also been vineyards and which were transformed into wild vegetation, gave way to what is the wine adventure that today hits the market.

Between tons and tons of granitic rock, quartz and gravel, some areas of the property are simply… unexplorable due to the presence of large rock masses. After moving over the earth, it was time to decide which grape varieties would best adapt to this very special place: Alvarinho, Gouveio, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Syrah. All this happens between 450 and 700 meters of altitude. At the highest levels, whites (with the exception of a portion of Alvarinho at the bottom level) and reds at the lowest levels.

This option imparts a fresh character to the wines, with marked and intense acidity, which leads us to experiment with bold combinations, as with our rosé, the result of an alliance between 85% Touriga Nacional and 15% Alvarinho.

As for the essence of the project, it boils down to two ideas: producing wines always focusing on quality over quantity and conveying, as faithfully as possible, what the magnificent and unique terroir of Vidago has to offer.
