Born and raised by the true values of friendship, Duas Árvores are the fulfillment of a dream of two old friends who wished to celebrate their Portuguese ancestry. The brand´s name Duas Árvores (two trees in Portuguese), was inspired by the family names of the two friends, both corresponding to two trees typical of the Douro region, Castanheira (Chestnut) and Oliveira (Olive Tree).
The vineyards of Duas Árvores are located in the Quinta da Marcela, in the famous Vale Mendiz, near the Village Pinhão, in the heart of the Douro Valley region. In total there are 16 hectares of vineyards planted in predominantly xistous soils, at an altitude between 100 and 550 meters, mainly facing east and south. The clima is typically Mediterranean. The grapes varieties are indigenous, some with almost 40 years old, such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Barroca, Mourisco and others, more recently planted, like Alicante Boushet, Rufete, Viosinho and Rabigato. All the Duas Árvores wines are produced in a sustainable agricultural production system, using methods compatible with the protection of the environment.
