XPTO Factor: Produce a wine that reproduces the truth of the “Terroir”, regardless of market preferences and fashions.

In the town of Souropires, in the municipality of Pinhel, you can find our small family business, with about 14 ha, located between 600 and 750 meters of altitude. Six ha are vines planted about 20 years ago in the current form: plots by variety, double wire for the barding, with national varieties: Rufete, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, Malvasia and international: Verdejo, Riesling and Chardonnay. The remaining hectares are 60 to 100 year old vineyards and the usual mix of grape varieties, the most abundant being Rufete and Baga in the reds, Syria and Arinto in the whites.

We renovated our cellar, which dates back to 1935, and currently we have the necessary conditions for the production of good wines, hygiene, temperature control, stainless steel vats, etc.

We produce wines exclusively for pleasure and this results in the existence of almost a dozen types of wine and an indefinite number of harvest days, depending on the variety, maturation …. It’s tiring but it’s good.

The first bottling was in 1995 and since then I have shared my life and that of my family between Coimbra (basic professional activity) and Souropires pleasure and stubbornness… One day we will make the “best wine in the world”. Despite the countless setbacks and problems it is no longer simply… possible to imagine life without the vigneron aspect.
