Iria Otero
Iria had her first contact with wine in childhood, during visits to the wineries of Ribeira Sacra that she made with her father. In 2015, she decided to start her own personal project.
For Iria, Ribeiro is “the richest area in Galicia in terms of grape varieties and soils. It allows you to make all kinds of wines. You can have one plot separated from another by ten meters and they have nothing to do with each other. It’s incredibly fun!”
Iria’s wines are precise, subtle, and soulful. She wants to make wines without haste, with minimal intervention, that respect the variety and the terroir where the vines are grown. She calls them wines with memory. Although she harvests each plot separately, the wines are ultimately all blends of multiple varieties, as was traditionally done in Galicia. She aims to return to that tradition of each area, using today’s knowledge.
