Factor XPTO: Freelance & Flying Winemakers : Wines With Latitude
The project named Cizeron Wines is based on a dynamic concept of journeys planned by Henrique Cizeron, where the main goal is to locate and identify small parcels of vineyards with a willingness to communicate – mainly old vines, but also some others bringing reflexes of the local traditions – in specific sites according to its challenges at the level of climate/soil/people/varieties, throughout three Winegrowing Appellation of Origin regions of North Portugal (Firstly Douro, then Vinhos Verdes/Minho and lately Trás-os-Montes), but also New Zealand (Central Otago).
After completing a Veterinary Sciences degree, Henrique went back to school in order to learn more about Viticulture and Enology, then started his journey around the planet of wine during which he worked with a lot of vignerons in different latitudes. Wines for his own label began production in 2010, only released later in 2017. Today, the project has been growing sustainably, based on low intervention approaches and the seeking of new stylistic paths, bringing a diverse portfolio from elegant and aromatic Cool Climate Whites to deeper Warm Climate Reds, always in very limited quantities.
