Alberto Orte

Factor XPTO: “My goal is to create wines that express the qualities of the terroir and are enjoyable, crafting the best possible wine for the delight of those who drink it.”

“In this triangle between the Atlantic and the Guadalquivir, the first lines were written over 3’000 years ago. And I’ve spent the last twenty of them exploring, ever deeper, in the conviction that before tradition, came the origin.”

Alberto has persisted in his search for that origin, an exploration that has led him to discover great terroirs, recover the ancient ways of making wine and replant almost extinct grape varieties that would otherwise have been lost.
Alberto produces wine in many regions of the Iberian Peninsula, such as Portugal, Valdeorras and Rioja, but he has found his home in Jerez, where he has been a pioneer in the production of unfortified wines and has recovered ways of making wine that had been abandoned.
Aware that great wine is made in the vineyard, from the beginning of his project he has opted for viticulture based on a concept that articulates everything else: respect. Thus, his vineyards in Jerez are cultivated without pesticides or inorganic fertilizers, he applies biodynamic treatments to the soil and uses Vara and Pulgar pruning, traditional in Jerez, for all his varieties, white and red.
In the winemaking process, the techniques used seek to reveal the truth of the wine: transparent interventions that make the impact of the terroir on the wine crystal clear, producing wines that are drinkable and generate enjoyment for those who drink them.
This is a creative, avant-garde wine project with a marked historical vocation: a return to traditional methods with an innovative perspective and the search for the sublime throughout the entire viticulture and winemaking process.
