XPTO Factor: Cortém, a unique terroir, a special taste.

Vinhos Cortém was founded in 2004 by Christopher Price, an English sound engineer, and his wife, Helga Wagner, a German sound editor.
It is a small vigneron (5 hectares) of organic wines. The vineyards are located in the hills and valleys a few kilometers east of Caldas da Rainha.

The passion for making wine is the driving force behind this project. Christopher and Helga are involved in every step, from planting, pruning and caring for the vines to the entire production process, which they carry out. The vines have been organically grown from the start and certification was completed in 2010.

They aim to produce wines with their own tastes and qualities. The vineyards of Cortém, benefiting from an Atlantic climate and, therefore, moderately cool, produce wines in which it is possible to discern the variety of grape varieties and enjoy the special taste of Cortém. To achieve this goal they only use stainless steel tanks for aging, simply… so that the taste of the grape predominates.
