In 2003, when this project started to be revitalized, the personal taste of José Silva, retired 68 years old electrical engineer, and his wife Estefânia, teacher, led Quinta do Escudial to invest in the exclusive production of unoaked wines.
By refusing oak, for their particular taste, stubbornness, they created a brand image, a style of wine that at the time escaped the mainstream but today has many fans and has become consensual.
“It is not a flag, it is just a concept”, they say.
