Quinta das Bágeiras is the result of the work of three generations.

In 1989, we started bottling the wines produced on the Quinta, with a 1987 reserve red (3rd national prize in the 51st IW competition) and a 1989 white (honorable mention• in the Confraria dos Enófilos da Bairrada competition).

In 1990, celebrating 100 years of sparkling wine in Bairrada, a sparkling wine trial run was too place, which served as a starter point for new bottlings and for a cellar project which, decisively, enabled the definitive start of the production of sparkling wine.

Step by step, always with a strong team spirit, the vineyard area was increased and improved, and the cellar conditions continued to be improved, with the aim of producing increasingly better. As a result of this effort and dedication, over the years, the wines have been, successively, receiving high praise from specialized critics and the consumers.

Until today, there’re only Brutos Naturais (no added sugar) sparkling wines produced, as in the beginning,  and the red wines are fermented in mills, without destemming and bottled without any gluing or filtering, and great longevity white wines.
With the traditional style, there’s no standardizatio to the wines, because the passion lies in their diversity.

Mário Sérgio was elected, in 2004, Farmer of the Year in Portugal by the Ministry of Agriculture. At Quinta das Bágeiras intendes to continue to honor the noble demarcated region of Bairrada, with the wines, sparkling wines and spirits.
