Nuno do Ó

XPTO Factor: Mira do Ó wines, molded between mountains and sea, rocks and clay.

The wines Druida and Vidente arise from the old obsession to make authentic wines in the great region of Dão. The vineyards are about 30 years old and are planted on a plateau at 500 meters altitude. The climate, with great thermal amplitudes, is influenced mainly by the “Serra do Caramulo” to the west and “Serra da Estrela” to the Southeast. The soils are granite and on the surface there is a surprising abundance of rolled rock. The wines are made in an old stone cellar, where the winemaking is quite minimalist. Like the ancient Druids of the Celtic civilizations, who had a great connection to the earth and sought spiritual balance through the balance of nature, what we look for in wines is the sensory balance through the harmony between the soil, the climate and the plants. On the other side of the Serra do Buçaco the project V Puro arises from the desire to recover centenarian vineyards in Bairrada to make great Baga wines from the clay-limestone soils of the region, with artisan winemaking and long aging periods. Thus are born the wines “Doravante”, “Aliás” and “Outrora”.
