XPTO Factor: Our vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see. They are small, delicate and receive our full attention.

Humus wines are produced at Quinta do Paço, a family property that has long been linked to wine. Located in the demarcated region of Óbidos, between the Atlantic Ocean and Serra dos Candeeiros, it enjoys unique and difficult but also challenging soil and climate conditions, that allow it to produce fresh wines, with elegance and personality.

The vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see. They are small, 10 hectares, and well-kept, cultivated in organic farming. White grapes: Fernão Pires, Arinto and Vital; reds: Castelão, Camarate, Touriga Nacional, Syrah and Tinta Barroca. The result of an enormous passion and respect for the land, the wines are made naturally, without artifice, respecting the tradition. At the same time, we love to experiment and that has paved the way forward, sometimes allowing us to find new expressions of that terroir.
We are always waiting for the right moment to harvest each variety,  and we do it by hand and with a careful choice of grapes. The reds ferment in small stainless steel vats, then age in used barrels. In whites and rosés, the grapes are pressed whole, then fermenting in barrels where they remain until bottling. We don’t filter anything. Nothing is added to the wine other than a small amount of sulfur dioxide, and in recent years, in pursuit of this desire to intervene as little as possible, we have even stopped using it in some of the wines. Then, we find even more purity, pleasure and authenticity.
