Factor XPTO: Authenticity

The passion for wine came suddenly came into my life over 20 years ago.
Since then, it has only increased and after a career in restaurants, always linked to wine, the next step had to be the creation of my own wine.
Having some land in the region of Colares, in clay-limestone soils, commonly known in the region as “chão rijo” (literally hard soil), the reason why my wines are “Regional Lisboa” and not “DOC Colares”, and because this is for me a reference region, unique in mainland Portugal for its characteristics, I planted my vineyards here in 2013 and 2014. Only indigenous grape varieties were adopted: Fernão Pires; Arinto and Malvasia de Colares in whites and Castelão in reds, in order to preserve the identity of the region.

Due to the proximity of the sea (the vineyards are located between 3 and 5 km from the Atlantic), which with its constant mist and sea breezes creates an ultra-Atlantic micro-climate, which allows very slow maturation, with the preservation of acidity of the grapes, which makes the wines vibrant and fresh. These breezes also give the wines a very sharp salinity.
All of these features contribute for an excellent bottle storage capacity, as is the hallmark of this region, which I also want to praise with my work.
