An enthusiast of the wine world, Alexandre Gomes, following a familiar agricultural tradition in the region of Baião, planted, in 1991, 5 hectares of vineyards in the estate Casa do Arrabalde. Time passed, the vineyards became adults and, feeling that the wines surpassed the expectations, Alexandre and Dialina, his wife, create in 2005 the company A&D Wines, investing in conditions to produce quality grapes and wines. In that same year they acquire another property, Quinta dos Espinhosos and, more recently, Quinta de Santa Teresa, where the winery and most of the vineyards are currently located, along with a tourism project that wants to show A&D Wines in their birthplace, profiting from the charm and enchanting views over the Douro valley.
In this path, initiated with the wines Casa do Arrabalde and Quinta dos Espinhosos, the Monólogo range was created, being composed of five monovarietal wines: Arinto, Avesso, Malvasia Fina, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Each Monólogo is an expression of what each grape variety, in its terroir, has to offer. To complete the portfolio, we find the wine Singular, which blends different varieties and old vines in order to create a very balanced, elegant wine.
Elected Producer Revelation 2017 by the wine magazine Vinhos, Grandes Escolhas, A&D Wines continues to grow, using organic, sustainable winemaking and producing wine only with the grapes it produces. 2019 will see the release of its first organic certified wines.
